Who Am I?
I am like a soft, warm, gooey cheesecake cupcake, but the sad part is that it's just a cupcake still in the oven baking and rising; giving off a sweet aroma that’s filling your nostrils. How do you really explain yourself to someone you just met, so they can also smell that sweet aroma. So how does a cupcake exactly represent who I am ? Well I'm delicate, toasty, and still in the rising process of life. In life we come across some turns and twists that may change our view of life. The same thing that can occur in life can happen to a cupcake, which may cause it to become bitter, savory, or even sweeter than usual. As I am slowly rising I am beginning to learn my weakness and how I can change it into an advantage.
Having immigrant parents have taught me many things in life. One is that education should come second after God in my life. This has lead me to become very mature and grow up faster than intend. Along with that it has lead me to the decisions that I have made in my life about my future. That major decision was "Who Did I Want To Become". Did I want to continue the same path that my parents were in. Working all the time trying to make ends meet and never seem to have the time to have fun or relax.
That major decision was that I wanted to become a Pediatric surgeon and I wanted to go to college no matter what may happen in life. I also knew that in order to meet that goal I had to work hard and never stop no matter what life may throw in my face. Also that I had to pick a college that I wanted to go to which for me was easy. I was going to go to the University Of Louisville and I wasn’t going to stop no matter what the cost may be. At that point moment when I knew I had to start working towards that goal and try my hardest to go through the trials. At the end of each trial I knew I was one step closer to that goal.
That goal seem to be getting closer every single passing day. As I work harder and harder pushing myself pass my limits trying to reach out to the shining sun in the horizon. Making the decision and working for it will pay off in the end to see the smiling face of my parents saying " There's are baby girl right there!!". At the end of everything I know I want to help kids in my parents native country in Haiti witnessing the smile on their faces saying " Merci Docteur. Belance".
But lastly I know that life will change and I will have to hold on to my goal with a tight grip. Life seems to have a funny way of showing you everything but also trying to keep you away from it. Like I said though you just have to hold on tight like you’re a bull rider in the rodeo. But no matter what I will always keep the shining sun in the horizon in my view till I'm starting right in front of it face to face.
